CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Adherence to Health, Safety and Environmental requirements:
o Ensure total adherence to all Safety, Occupational Health and Environmental Policies, standard operating procedures as well as other policies, procedures and guidelines.
o Ensure Zero Fatality, Zero LTI and Zero MTI in the Section and that incidents are reported accurately and timely.
o Assist with accident investigations as required.
• Maintain and update the Environmental Database with accurate and relevant content.
• Ensure that Environmental Policies and Procedures are reviewed, updated and improved on.
• Ensure that Environmental processes are implemented effectively, e.g. Waste & Water Management, Rehabilitation and Environmental Awareness.
• Compile accurate and timely daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and ad hoc sampling information.
• Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual Environmental/ Technical Reports, including statutory reporting.
• Maintain the Chemicals Inventory.
• Assist with incident/ accident investigation as required.
• Provide advice in terms of:
o Incident Management
o Air Management
o Flora and Fauna
o Groundwater and Surface Water Management
o Waste, Water & Chemicals Management
o Environmental Culture
o Community Awareness
o Rehabilitation and Closure
• Conduct Environmental Awareness Training Sessions
• Assist with Environmental Projects, ensuring that they are completed on schedule and in budget.
• Planning:
o Ensure availability of an accurate Environmental Calendar/ Schedule for 3 months and it should contain all planned activities, 1 (one) month prior to start of every quarter.
o Compliance to scheduled environmental workplace inspections planned per month.
o Ensure the Rehabilitation Plan in place is implemented and updated every month along with the Register.
• Environmental Coaching & Training and Communication
o Conduct Environmental practice training/ coaching sessions to the workforce.
o Ensure 2 monthly Environmental Topics are identified every month and are effectively communicated to all employees to raise & maintain awareness.
• Management of Change
o Represent the Environmental team in Management of Change Process.
o Effectively facilitate the Management of Change Process for Environmentally affected projects/ tasks.
• Legal Compliance
o Ensure compliance to all Required Environmental Policies; update & maintain Environmental Obligations Register on a weekly basis & permits are prepared and are updated prior to commencing any work/ task.
o Ensure compliance to Company Environmental Management System through monthly audits and readiness to respond to Environmental Emergencies at any time.
o Ensure compliance to all required inspections carried out every month as per relevant Environmental regulations.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Qualification Requirements:
• Degree in Environmental Natural Sciences, Environmental Engineering or equivalent.
• Postgraduate qualification in Environmental Science/ Management will be an added advantage.
Experience Requirements:
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Environmental Management preferably in the Mining Industry.

• Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, GIS Systems and Database Packages.
